Week #2: On to a healthier body and mind

So… week 2 is behind us. Was it a good week? Mmm, maybe not so much. It didn’t excel in healthy dishes and the fact that we also had our cooking club last friday didn’t help matters at all. Here an overview of the week:

Sunday: We had the mysterybox as you know and that also had a – shocker – dessert. So I had some of that. The starter was a tuna tartar and the main was also fish, so both of those were pretty much ok. And I had a glass of wine… Or two..

Monday: We had a new year reception from the market (which turned out to be nothing like a party…) so we had a quick sandwich on the way there. I had a sandwich with hummus and grilled veggies. At the reception I had only coffee and water, so that was ok.

Tuesday: Lunch with my sister in Hilversum and that was soup with a sandwich and in the evening we had dudefood.. 🙂 What that was you will see on tuesday!

Wednesday: I went to the holiday fair with Nathalie, so we had a sandwich for lunch with prosciutto and in the evening I didn’t feel like cooking so we had another sandwich from the oven with cheese and ham and a boiled egg. That is two sandwiches each by the way.

Thursday: Cauliflower couscous with chicken curry. This turned out to be the best day of the week foodwise.

Friday: Cooking club. We had a menu which was a lentil dish as a starter with scallops and a little bit of bloodpudding and Jerusalem artichoke puree. Than next dish was a red onion soup. Main was a delicious steak of deer and as a dessert we had tiramisu. Charlotte and I made that so I couldn’t skip that! And two glasses of wine.

Saturday: I had a workshop the whole day so Tom made dinner, which than tends to be a little bit less healthy usually. He made a pasta with a creamy mushroom sauce and I had way too much cheese to go with that. (cheese is my downfall….)

Wow… it is a bit of an eye opener to be honest, listing it all in a row. I knew it wasn’t a very good week but putting it down on paper makes me realise it was even worse than I thought it was…

Still the total score was still a kilo less as my weighing day in on wednesday so that has been my luck. I’m pretty sure it would have read something less positive if I would try the scales now. It’s hard sticking to your intentions with social gatherings such as we had. The good news is that I am still pretty much motivated so yes, it wasn’t the best of weeks but I also refuse to knibble on a carrot during events such as our cooking club. It’s only once every two months, so it’s just a bit unfortunately it happened at the beginning of january but we will be going in the right direction again next week.

My I quit sugar will be starting soon too so I’m all pumped up to do it!

Losing when with an active social life – and when one is a food blogger!!! — is hard. But slow and sure works. You’re making progress, which is what counts. 🙂

It’s a tough time of year to work on your weight before, during and after Christmas. I saw the doctor the other day and I’m the same weight I was last year. Win. She’d like me to take off 5 kilos. New goal. 🙂
